8.  EXPLANATION OF THE CHANGE:

Based upon faculty, cooperating teacher and student feedback, the current embedded Level 3 Field

Experience for SPED 442 provided pre-service teachers limited opportunities to work with K-8 students

evidencing learning disabilities.  Therefore, this proposed curriculum change will significantly enhance the

Level 3 Field Experiences by providing a formal structured practicum experience throughout the Advanced

Professional Block for Elementary and Special Education pre-service teachers.

Pre-service teachers will be given the opportunity to work directly with students evidencing learning

disabilities in a K-8 classroom setting during the entire semester they are completing the Advanced

Professional Block (Level 3).
