     From:

Provides students with a fundamental knowledge of computer security essentials in critical and diverse security areas, including security terminology, viruses, popular operating system vulnerabilities, Web browser vulnerabilities, security standards, and computer fraud.

 

     To:

This course provides students with fundamental knowledge of current computer security essentials.  Cryptography and its applications along with basic identification and authentication issues will be covered.

2.  Justification for changes indicated in Section 2.    The course is being modified to include a larger cryptography

component.   The Security major is shifting topics to more accurately reflect the broad focus on computer security,

network security, software security, and forensics. The CIS 414, 416, 418, and 422 courses are being updated to

more accurately reflect this structure.
